Where art and storytelling meet heartfelt hospitality

Tucked away in Jaipur’s residential neighbourhood of Gopalbari, Laalee is an intimate boutique retreat where art, heritage, and spirituality come together through thoughtful storytelling. Conceived by artist and conservationist Shan Bhatnagar and his wife Devyani, the property draws inspiration from the many narratives of Lord Krishna, with each suite reflecting a different aspect of his life through hand-painted artwork and carefully curated design. More than a place to stay, Laalee functions as a living gallery, celebrating traditional Indian art forms, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage. Combining personalised hospitality with immersive artistic experiences, it offers a quieter and more contemplative perspective on Jaipur beyond its palaces, forts, and bustling bazaars.

Destination

The Pink City of Jaipur is renowned for majestic palaces, vibrant markets, rich history and diverse arts and crafts. Nestled within this throng is the residential district of Gopalbari, known for its quiet lanes and elegant architecture, offering a peaceful respite from the city's frenetic pace. Located here is The Laalee, a boutique stay where history, art and luxury coexist, offering an exclusive perspective of Jaipur while remaining within easy reach of Jaipur’s historic sites, bazaars and cultural landmarks.

Design and Concept

Artist Shan Bhatnagar and his wife, Devyani, created this unique, extraordinary boutique stay from their love and respect for Lord Krishna, exploring his many forms as a prankster, child god, lover, and hero across nine themed rooms. Take the Mayur suite with peacocks symbolising courtship, or the Utsav room showing maternal love through playful cows and calves. The themes extend beyond just decoration, weaving into the storytelling, the art and the food.

This is definitely ‘not in the guidebooks.’
